Behavior Check – pkrftw

Behavior Check

As I continue to prepare for a speaking engagement at a national conference regarding Addressing Workplace Hostility, I decided to research the current statistics on divorce.

In the United States it is shown that almost 50 percent of all marriages will end in divorce or separation – 41% of all first marriages, 60% of second marriages and 73% of all third marriages.

Anyone who knows me by now knows I love digging for root cause.  Not to minimize the value of all sorts of research and therapy, with my background in the healthcare field with quality improvement responsibilities, I realize the need to look for short-cuts to address concerns in our crisis-intervention / crisis-management society.

Going back to the divorce statistics, the 2nd largest reason divorcing couples gave for divorcing was arguing too much at 56%.

With my presentation in a few days coming up in regards to addressing workplace negativity, I also had researched the definition of toxic workplaces, which I found to be awesome: “A toxic workplace is a workplace that is marked by significant drama and infighting, where personal battles often harm productivity”.

I think that, maybe, it is time for a behavior check to examine ourselves, our behaviors, and the impact of lack of respect for others as well as the impact of our actions and reactions on others and ourselves.

Perhaps there is actually a simple solution for people to work together to create their best lives, one with less conflict and more amicable friendships and relationships.

If you have been experiencing frustration, anger, resentment, jealousy, fear, insecurity and/or other negative feelings throughout your lifetime, or if you want to proactively change your life experience or that of your children or your workplace, please consider the simple solution for self-awareness and strengths building offered through the Time to Play organization.  https://timetoplay.com/emotional-intelligence-coaching/

Through the years I have also developed the I AM Awesome workshop, which is a simple exercise for self-awareness and self-expression for people of all ages.

What I have recognized through my 32 years in healthcare and through my many years of research is that your self-belief does not go away.  It stays with you and creates your negative behavior and mindset throughout your life.  Any time we can get awareness about our own self and tools to control our thoughts — to STOP and take a moment to shut our unconscious downward spiral down — to recognize the thoughts that help us or hurt us, is an amazing thing.

Life is short. Stop living the cycle of anger and fighting and arguing.

Perhaps you are ready to maximize your daily experiences through your own awareness to create your own best life.

I believe that every moment of our day can feel like we are at play – we just have to know we can make it so. It’s time to enjoy your life.

Love,

Doreen Guma
